Organic Root Stimulator's Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner

I wanted to do a quick review on this because i've been using this for months now and I just LOVE it!

Photo Courtesty of Grow Black Hair

Rebuilds damaged hair
Stimulates the root of your hair
Deep penetrating conditioner
Softens
Detangles
Moisturizes and strengthens hair
Natural Shine

It's formulated with olive oil, silk proteins, and sweet orange oil to provides ultimate conditioning.

I don't like to do reviews without visual proof so I apologize ahead of time for the reviews taking so long. It also has to do with the fact i'm transitioning a lot job, home, and so forth living wise. But enough about that lets get to my personal views on this shall we?

These two pictures were taken before and after I used the Conditioner after one use and yes my hair was relaxed that's why it's not curly

BEFORE   |   AFTER

Because i'm mixed with so many different ethnic races I find my hair a hard one to please. Sometimes it'll cooperate and take products that are mostly for naturally straight hair and other times I have to use products of the complete opposite. Since I was young I have braided my hair, relaxed it, flat ironed it, colored it, and highlighted it. So almost anything you can to haha but nothing to extreme, well other than chemical treatment hmm i'd say that's extreme. I inherited my Dad's hair which is African American hair, my hair specifically is naturally thick, kinky, and has tight curls. And as always remember everyone's hair and will respond differently I notice my body responds to things quickly whether it's skin, hair, or other beauty products.

As you can see in the pictures just after one use my hair is slightly shinier, has more bounce, more body, no fly aways, looks overall healthier. What you couldn't see is that it was MUCH easier to comb through for days after which is great because if you have similar hair you know how fast tangles build up and it's a workout just combing through after showers. But thankfully this conditioner detangled as well as made it soft to the touch I could not stop touching my hair haha! What was even better was that the elaticity of the hair strands were so much stronger it was crazy. I noticed too the more often I used the conditioner the stronger and healthier my hair became, even if I used other products more in between the results stayed. I can't stand when a product does wonders but heaven forbid you stop using it even for a little and it seems you're right back at square one, not with this! My hair did also seem to grow faster and that's pretty exciting for me because my hair takes forever to grow especially if it's not in braids. Not promising any miracle grow but I did notice for me I saw a more "normal" hair growth pace.

Another thing I completely love about this product is that it smells like Orange Creamsicles which is the BEST to me anyways haha. And it wasn't overpowering and actually stayed with my hair for a couple of days which is a shocker usually they don't last a day. But here's what sold me I did NOT have to add any extra conditioning or serums to my hair I left it in for longer than called it calls for 30-35 minutes but because of my kinky and thick hair that's been damaged by environment, heat, chemical and so forth I usually leave conditioners from 40min - 1 hour which may seem like that's overkill but that's just how my hair is. Usually I get the greasy thick left over feeling but not with this. It does apply as a very thick cream which I admit I had to use quite a bit the first time and I do still us a generous amount each time but that's just me and my hair is just slightly past shoulder length now. I trimmed it so it's just only slightly longer than the pictures shown above which was taken back in Feb/March.

Now the for the downside to get the full benefit of it I would say especially if your hair is in dyre need of replenishing to pump life back into it to use this conditioner every 2 or 3 days and honestly with me the bottle was gone in by half a month. But again keep in mind I was long overdue for an extreme conditioning. It doesn't have extreme protein elements so it's ok to use often and not have that stiff or hard texture like hair that just gets protein treatments or over proteined for that matter. Anyways the bottles at lets say Sally's Beauty where I get them go for $7 on average which isn't bad but in the beginning it could add up if you use a regular treatment instead of a weekly treatment which it usually calls for. But honestly that's the only thing I found as a downfall with it.

Can you tell a difference? LOL it's probably harder to tell with my locks but looks like i don't have as much body in the picture on the right that's actually because my curls are more defined and healthy they are a bit looser because of that too. In the picture on the left especially behind my head you can see the crazy hair and yes a big bulk of that is actually damaged as you can see. I did eventually trim that out but there's not a hot mess from putting it under all kinds of stress. I could not only comb through it easily but it didn't frizz up when I combed it out which is something that's a miracle for me :) Since using this and eventually WEN haircare I haven't had much of my natural curls which is ok because it's not weighed down, has body, and is healthy :)

So I give it 5/5

+ Does all it claims to do
+ Smells great
+ Doesn't weigh down hair or leave it greasy
+ Price/bottle is very reasonable at $7 [Sally's Beauty]

Hope that helped!

Monday it is

Hey everyone hope you had a wonderful weekend and that your week will be even better!

Awhile back which i'm sure many of you entered the Mary Kay Virtual Makeover contest, Celebrity Makeup Artist, Luis Casco, was to choose 3 lucky winners based on who's look he loved the most and they were to win all the products used in their makeover. I just received an email today shortly after my lunch and guess what? I was chosen as one of the lucky winners!

I'm so thankful and excited that I plan on holding a contest very soon *^_^ so stay tune for the details! Thanks to Stacey Tropeano, Jill Kleiner, and of course the wonderful Luis Casco!

Go HERE to create your own Mary Kay Virtual Makeover!

Mary Kay has been around for a long time I remember friends and family using the products even before I got into makeup myself. The company, brand, and representatives are all respectable and there's a great choice of products for you to enjoy from. So check out the website and browse the products or see the Mary Kay representative closest to you.

I, myself am looking forward to trying their Skincare line i'll do a review on the products as soon as I purchase them :)

In case you're wondering what my Virtual Makeover look that won was here you go:

Please excuse the bare face Before picture haha. And as promised, better late then never I have finally got the review pictures from my MAC Family and Friends haul, so that will be going up later tonight!

Another Monday...

Hello Ladies and Gents it's another Monday!  Are we all prepared for another week?  LOL some great news.  In between all my packing and mayhem I was finally able to upload the pics of different prizes I won that i've been using and other great products i've really been loving to do some reviews.  Not to mention so much more.  I apologize again for the sparse posting they definitely will be become more frequent, I appreciate your patience :)

Later today i'm going to have a detailed review and swatches for my MAC Family and Friends mini haul that was so kindly given to me as an early Birthday present from a family member :)
Basically above we have:
  • Empty 15 pan palette
  • Vanilla eyeshadow
  • Expensive Pink eyeshadow
  • Woodwinked eyeshadow
  • Impassioned Solarbits
  • Fix +
  • Brush Cleaner
I can say right off the bat my favorite item of them all is the Solarbits they have a great reflection of color ranging from a deep purple mauve to a gold shimmered infused brown.  I did notice that when I used two different eyeshadow primers, Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance one brought out more purple mauve tones and the other more of a brassy gold tone.  I'll have pictures up for that.

Believe it or not before this I won 2 items from MAC the Sharkskin Shadestick and Et Tu, Bouquet Eyeshadow and those were my first items from MAC.  I have been made over by friends and family with MAC products, admired the line since high school, and have used friends' products here and there but never really was able to buy make up other than from the drugstore because they were all we could afford being I was taking care of my Grandmother and Mother who were very ill for years I was the main source of income juggling school from as soon as I was of age to work, dance club, care giving responsibilities, and on average at least 2 to 3 jobs.

But now that there's great blogs such as Reflections of Your Beauty and so much more who have periodic giveaways some of us who have been hit even more so by the current economic times can find some opportunity as I have to win products we might not otherwise have been able to for awhile.  Not to mention with big and small companies such as Mary Kay having such frequent wonderful sales and contests!  Some can actually afford to buy a few pieces of make up, hair care, skin care, body care, handbags, shoes, clothes, and so forth that we didn't dream possible anytime soon.  So thanks to all the beauty bloggers and companies for still making it possible!

:) Alright I must be off to do some errands and mail out my application and photo shots for the Torrid House of Dreams Model Search out, wish me luck, and best of luck to anyone else trying out as well!  I'll be back later this afternoon if not tonight for sure with the MAC Friends and Family haul listed above with reviews and swatches!  Until than have a wonderful day/night!

Beauty Swatch's 1st Giveaway Competition

So as always lets start with the rules first shall we?

RULES:

1. You must have a blog account & be a follower of BeautySwatch

2. Create a post on your blog & do three things:

  • Upload the competition poster on your blog post & link it to competition giveaway post HERE
  • Upload a photo of your lips wearing your favourite lipstick or lipgloss and specify the details / shade number of the lipstick or gloss.
  • Leave a comment on competition giveaway post with a link to your entry HERE
3. Competition ends Friday 17 July 2009 at midnight GMT+10:00 (Melbourne time)

4. Four winners will be randomly selected for the four prizes below.

PRIZES:
  • MAC Lipglass FAFI [Cult Fave]
  • Stila Lip Gloss [No. 15 Gorgeous]
  • Mor Green Tea Lip Delight [From Australia]
  • Cocoa & Vanilla Hand Cream [From New Zealand]

So my current favorite lip gloss is actually N.Y.C.'s Liquid Lip Shine in Pink Sands #538 [right picture]. I love it because you can do it sheer and have a nice shine just enhancing your natural lip color [left picture] for example like mine. Or you can build up on it and create a lighter pink nude color [middle picture] like I did. Of course keep in mind as with many products especially lip products it really varies from person to person on how it looks.
I love that you can get this gloss for cheap like $1.00 or less depending on where you are. You can actually get an identical look of the gloss with a couple other of my favorite lip products. Just apply N.Y.C.'s Lipstick in Rose Gold #413 which are the first 3 below [1. Room Light no flash, 2. No Flash, 3. With Flash] it's a nice mauve pink with gold shimmer. Top it with a layer of Lancome's Juicy Tubes Smoothie in Spring Fling [Last Picture] and you come out with a more pigmented but similar result as using the N.Y.C.'s Liquid Lip Shine in Pink Sands listed above.
I also use Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm religiously and always put it as a "base" for all my lip products which I think almost helps make everything glossy :) In case your wondering the N.Y.C. Lipstick was very inexpensive as well maybe at the most i've seen it priced at $3 but again varies from where place to place. As for the Juicy Tubes I believe they run about $18 at Sephora anyways. Well hope you enjoyed my inexpensive favorite lippies at the current moment!

Focusing...

It's time for another...

There always seems to be a mile long list of things to do and not enough time to do it all. LOL don't you find yourself need at least another 5 or 6 hours in a day just to get the things that need to be done daily actually checked off? No wonder so many out there always talk about needing to spice things up. It's tiring trying to just keep up the regular flow of your schedule going haha.

So for the sake of all the madness i've decided to focus on...

+ Conforming a new structure in all my schedules and re-organize not only to make my life a little easier on myself, for myself but also to be able to enjoy it more as it should be.

+ Come up with creative and budget friendly ideas for my birthday this year which is only 12 days away :) haha

+ Pump myself up more so that I have an even more intensely positive and reassure vibe and attitude when I go into interviews than I already give. It's hard to stay motivated with optimism in this current economy and still job hunting after months and months... but those feeling my pain we will get through it and things will be better in time.

I think that's a pretty good goal set for this coming week to focus on! Hope everyone as always has a great and wonderful weekend! I know I didn't clear out the contests that have ended already on the contests and giveaways widget and i'm sorry. I'll get on it as soon as possible. I do also plan to have a few reviews up this weekend on some great items that I had the honor of winning and just can't imagine not having now :)

Happy 4th of July!

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a wonderful and safe Independence Day weekend!

I know that I have been MIA for quite awhile now and I apologize. So much has happened in summer so far and I guess I didn't realize my time management would have gone out the window so fast haha. I will have some reviews definitely coming up starting this coming week. Again for a list of all the great contests and giveaways i've encountered there's a special widget on the side bar to the right. It's updated everytime I find a new giveaway/contest and i'll be clearing out the ones that have already ended this weekend.

Special thanks to all those who have been following and just started following it's greatly appreciated *^_^ lots of love and I enjoy reading and following your blogs as well! Speaking of which there's some giveaways that you will see i'll post on so just fair warning haha. I was debating if I should just post the reviews with pics or do it in addition to a vlog. I'll probably start including vlogs again once I catch up with everything and have the blog all situated.
Also i've had some that really have missed my updates on not just contests/giveaways but also different sells both online and in store. I will also start reorganizing my email to help keep you updated on those as well and again thanks so much for your patience. It's been even more hectic having moved and again at the end of the lease in 6 months being I was laid off. But I promise to not let anything get in the way of my blogging again I feel so bad for neglecting it and even my youtubing!

Well it's super early in the morning here like almost 5am and I have the worse sleep pattern amongst man kind right now i'm sure haha or well one of the worse! So i'm going to try and get some sleep before tonight. Until the next posting... promise it'll be within the next 3 days haha!
Aloha!
